BOISE, Idaho — On Friday, the BCS national championship trophy was on display at a couple of Fred Meyer’s grocery stores around town.
Saturday night, the Waterford Crystal football made an appearance on the sideline during Boise State‘s 37-24 victory over Oregon State.
Hopefully, Boise State’s players and fans got a good close up look at it and even snapped a few digital photos of the trophy, because they’re not going to see it again.
No way, no how. Boise State has absolutely no chance to win the BCS national championship. Are the Broncos good enough? Absolutely. They just don’t have a chance in the current BCS setup. And this is coming from someone who predicted in May the Broncos would win the national title over a one-loss, automatic-qualifying BCS team.
I just don’t see it happening anymore.
There are too many factors working against the Broncos. Too many reasons for the coaches and Harris Poll voters to minimize their many accomplishments. And mainly because they are not a member of an automatic qualifying BCS conference.
“I’d love to prove those people wrong, but we can’t play an SEC conference schedule,” Boise State junior linebacker Hunter White said. “We can’t play a Pac-10 conference schedule. They (Boise State’s critics) say we’d lose those games, but they don’t know. We never play them.”
