Quinn Cook, a star high school point guard and one of the top-ranked basketball recruits for the upcoming season, will have surgery this week to repair partially-torn ligaments in his right knee and will miss at least three months.
According to a report on The Washington Post’s website, the 6-foot-1 Cook, who was the paper’s metropolitan player of the year last season for DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), tore the ligaments late in Sunday’s Boost Mobile Elite 24 all-star game at Venice Beach, Calif. Cook transferred to Virginia’s Oak Hill Academy in the offseason and was expected to report for the start of the semester this week. He underwent an MRI on the knee Monday, the Post reported, and will be operated on Friday.
