Niels Giffey, the 19-year-old German swingman who committed to Connecticut in June, has been officially added to the Huskies roster.

The 6-foot-7 Giffey is the latest member of a six-man recruiting class headlined by small forward Roscoe Smith and point guard Shabazz Napier. UConn’s class was ranked 18th in the nation before adding Giffey, according to Scout.com.

The announcement comes one day after another international player, Sudanese-born Ater Majok, officially withdrew from the university.

The status of Connecticut’s other German import, center Enosch Wolf, remains uncertain. Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun told The Hartford Courant that the school was “working through some issues” regarding Wolf, but that it might be “squared away in the next couple days.” Wolf committed to the Huskies in July.
