Report: Mike Weir to Cut Season Short, Rest Ailing Elbow
Filed under: PGA
Mike Weir will reportedly miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his right elbow.
Weir told the Canadian Press on Tuesday that the injury was diagnosed via an MRI over the weekend and he will rest the elbow in an attempt to avoid surgery.
Weir was prompted to get the injury — which he initially thought was tendinitis — examined after a recent discussion with fellow PGA pro Scott McCarron. McCarron, according to the wire service, told Weir that he had a similar injury and tried to play though it only to miss a year on tour after tearing the ligament.
